  • Do French Fries Really Increase The Risk Of a Premature Infarct?

Do Fried Potatoes Really Increase the Risk of Premature Death? There is a new study about the effect fried potatoes have on people. The researchers made this on 4,400 people that were from 45 to 79 years old. These people ate French fries, potato chips, and hash browns for 2 or more times on a weekly basis over the course of 8 years. They came to the discovery that these people actually have increased the risk of early death. The risk is double compared to those people that did not consume fried potatoes. Other Important Factors In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, there was a study published about this same topic. And according to that study there is no evidence that there is a connection between the risk of early death and consuming fried potatoes. However, according to th...

Starchy foods, such as bagels, were recently targeted for being linked to lung cancer. Frozen French fries that are intended to be cooked in a consumer’s home are not naturally filled with the chemical. Fries with a larger surface area relative to the volume...

Homepage: http://www.CleanTV.com Just when you thought it was safe to grab some munchies in the cupboard, a new study warns of cancer in cans and bags—in cans of Pringles and in bags of a myriad of other potato chips. This disturbing truth about an all-time favorite snack may be forcing food manufacturers to change their processing methods. But can the changes really make a difference? Researchers find that potato chips, among other processed foods, are loaded with the cancer causing chemical, acrylamide (uh-kril-uh-mahyd). The substance forms when carbohydrate-rich foods are cooked at very high temperatures. Some of the worst offenders—Pringles and other potato chips and French fries. Federal regulations limit acrylamide in drinking water to just over one-tenth micrograms per 8-ounce glass. However, a six-ounce serving of French fries can contain 60 micrograms of acrylamide. That's about FIVE HUNDRED times over the allowable limit. Scientists find the amount in potato chips is even more staggering. In some cases, more than NINE HUNDRED times over the legal limit. Such studies prompted the state of California to sue potato chip makers in 2005, citing a failure to warn consumers about the health risks of acrylamide in their products. The Frito-Lay company and several other potato chip manufacturers agreed to a settlement in 2008. The companies pledged to reduce the acrylamide levels in their chips to 275 parts-per-billion by 2011, which is low enough to avoid needing a cancer warning label. But the jury is still out on whether or not manufacturers have truly reached the requirements. A major challenge lies in how the food is made. Since acrylamide is not intentionally added, but rather a byproduct of cooking or processing at temperatures above 212-degrees Fahrenheit, researchers believe that changes in the current manufacturing methods would reduce acrylamide intake by no more than 40 percent . This brings the question--have potato chip makers really succeeded in reducing acrylamide levels to within legal limits? That data has yet to be updated. However researchers do issue another warning—baked potato chips may be worse for you than fried. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration found acrylamide levels in baked chips may be at more than three times the level of acrylamide as regular chips! This comes as name brands such as Pringles and companies like Frito Lay advertise so-called healthier baked varieties of their products. In fact, research suggests that baking processed potatoes at high temperatures may be one of the worst ways to cook them. FDA findings on the name brand Ore Ida may prove the point. A study shows Ore Ida Golden Fries contain about 107 parts-per-billion of acrylamide in the regular fried variety, but the baked version contains nearly 11-HUNDRED parts-per-billion. And if that were not enough, published research also shows dozens more potential toxins form when processed food is heated to high temperatures. In the study published in 2007, scientists concluded that consumers are far less likely to ingest dangerous levels of acrylamide and other carcinogens when eating home-cooked foods compared to industrially-prepared snacks. Still, some potato chip manufacturers are working to improve the image of their products. By the end of 2011, about half of Pepsi's Frito-Lay brand snacks will be reformulated with all-natural ingredients. The switch is part of PepsiCo's master plan to tap into the healthy foods market share. The Wall Street Journal recently reported the company hopes to boost their nutrition business from $10 billion dollars to $30 billion dollars by 2020. Some 60 Frito-Lay brand snacks are scheduled for an all-natural makeover, with the company removing monosodium glutamate—also known as MSG—and replacing it with natural seasonings, such as molasses and paprika. Artificial colors will be replaced with beet juice, purple cabbage and carrots. Nutritionists warn that the reformulated chips still lack true health benefits and that the processing depletes food of valuable micronutrients. They urge consumers to eat foods that are raw or minimally processed to avoid the types of toxic byproducts that come from industrially manufactured snacks. Health care experts agree that cancer, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes have a dietary component. That, with these latest findings on toxins in convenience foods may be causing a shift in consumer demand and altering the direction of food manufacturers in a positive way. Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells. There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss and a change in bowel movements. Many cancers can be prevented by not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, not drinking too much alcohol, eating plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, not eating too much processed and red meat, and by avoiding many cancer causing foods that we have listed below. Microwave popcorn bags are lined with perfluorooctanoic acid, a compound that has been linked to various types of cancer, including liver, testicular and pancreatic cancer. Canned foods allow you to enjoy your favorite vegetables throughout the year. However, if you are concerned about your health, avoid canned food, especially canned tomatoes. The cans used to pack tomatoes and other foods are lined with a product called bisphenol A, BPA, an endocrine disruptor that may mimic or disrupt hormones and increase the risks for breast cancer, prostate cancer, early puberty, metabolic disorders, infertility, and several other problems. Farmed salmon is nowhere near as healthy as wild salmon, and eating farmed salmon puts you at a higher risk of developing cancer. Farm-raised fish are fed unnatural diets and contaminated with chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides and other known carcinogens found in materials like asbestos. Hydrogenated oils are vegetable oils, which cannot be naturally extracted like olive oil, soy or canola oil, they are chemically extracted from vegetables and is again chemically treated to change the smell and taste. This process turns unsaturated fat into a stable solid fat, resulting in trans fatty hydrogenated oil which is considered to be the worst type of fat and is known to cause cancer, heart disease, and immune system problems. Potato chips are deep-fried in temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius, which causes them to create a material called acrylamide, a well-known carcinogen found in cigarettes. Genetically modified foods (GMOs) are a rapidly growing industry and have made their way into the majority of our foods like corn, potatoes, grains and soybeans. Such food products are grown using harmful chemicals and, when consumed, can lead to immune system, brain and liver damage. Refined sugar, artificial sweeteners and fructose-rich sweeteners like high-fructose corn syrup are not good for your health. These products tend to rapidly spike insulin levels and feed the growth of cancer cells. Refined White flour contains excess carbohydrates that are not good for your health and even increase the risk of cancer. During the milling process, white flour is bleached with chlorine gas, which is highly toxic for the body. Processed meats such as ham, sausage and bacon have chemicals and preservatives like sodium nitrates, which make them bad for your health. In addition, processed meat contains excessive salt, which is also not good for you. Pickled and smoked foods are delicious but, at the same time, very harmful to the body. In fact, smoked meats that pick up tar from the smoking process cause extreme harm to your body. Plus, most pickled foods contain nitrates that turn into N-nitroso, which increases your risk of cancer.

However, according to the lead author and scientist at the National Research Council that is in Padova, Italy, Nicola Veronese, there is other crucial factor. Other crucial factor that can explain the morality by consuming potatoes is the cooking oil. The cooking oil has rich content of trans-fat. CNN reports that the trans-fat boosts the levels of bad cholesterol i.e. LDL. And that can result in heart disease. Nicola Veronese has hope that the study will serve as a warning to people that consume fried potatoes on a daily basis. Also that these people should lower their intake when it comes to fried potatoes and potato chips. However, this scientist also noted that other crucial factors might increase the risk of early death with people that often consume fried potatoes. The other crucial factors are those like high salt intake, inactivity, and obesity. What is Acrylamide and How to Avoid It An associate professor at Karolinska Institute in Sweden, at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Susanna Larsson, told CNN that there is no evidence that eating potatoes can increase the risk. Professor Larsson is not part of the study, but she made her own study when it comes to eating potatoes. According to her study there in no connection between increased risk of heart disease and eating potatoes. On the other hand, Stephanie Schiff, a dietitian at Northwell Health’s Huntington Hospital in New York says that there is a threat from consuming starchy foods and fried potatoes. And also that this food is a potential chemical that can cause cancer. The name of the chemical is acrylamide. She explained that acrylamide is a chemical that is a produced when certain foods are at high temperature. Those foods are starchy foods like potatoes that you fry, bake or roast. https://youtu.be/5NX64jN0y7Y

TOP 10 FOODS CAUSING CANCER : Understanding What Causing Cancer. 1. Hydrogenated Oils Hydrogenated oils, like vegetable oil, contain trans fats. The Mayo Clinic says it’s considered to be the worst type of fat there is. It’s known to cause cancer, heart disease, and immune system problems says Dr. David Brownstein of News Mac Health. In fact, there is no safe amount of trans fats in your diet, so avoiding this cancer causing food altogether would be advised. Even the FDA has made a preliminary determination to say trans fats are not generally regarded as safe, like previously thought. You can avoid hydrogenated oil but instead choosing coconut, palm, or olive oil. Organic butter is a better option as well. 2. French Fries/Potato Chips We know that these foods aren’t good for us, but did you realize that they’re considered cancer causing foods? These fast food staples are fried in hydrogenated vegetable oil and then heavily salted. We’ve already discussed the dangers of hydrogenated oils, but the high salt content is also concerning. It increases the risk of high blood pressure as well as other health problems. In addition, foods heated above a certain temperature have high levels of acrylamide. According to the National Cancer Institute, acrylamide is found in cigarette smoke and industrial building materials, as well some foods. Both french fries and potato chips were found to have higher levels of this chemical, which studies have shown increase the risk of cancer. Potatoes are also part of the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen”, meaning they have some of the heaviest pesticide residue of all the fruits and vegetables. Is microwave popcorn putting you at risk for cancer? Cancer causing foods 3. Microwave Popcorn There is more than just kernels in most microwave popcorn. It contains PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) which is a likely carcinogen. Dr. Andrew Weil sets the record straight about microwave popcorn, explaining artificial butter contains another dangerous chemical that can damage the lungs when inhaled. In fact, a couple of years ago a Colorado court awarded a man a $7.2 million settlement for “popcorn lung”, which is a lung condition caused by inhaling too much microwave popcorn. To reduce your risk of exposure to these chemicals, air pop your popcorn and add your own flavoring instead. 4. Processed Meats Bacon, lunch meat, hot dogs, sausages, and other processed meats have been shown to be cancer causing foods, increasing the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67%, a study by the University of Hawaii concluded. More shocking statistics shared by the Organic Consumer’s Association reveal hot dogs commonly contain sodium nitrite, a cancer causing ingredient the USDA has been trying to ban since the 1970s. Leukemia risks soared a staggering 700% with hot dog consumption. Look for meats free of nitrites to help reduce your risk with these cancer causing foods. 5. Red Meat A brand new study confirms the belief that red meat increases cancer risks. In an article from the San Diego Union Tribune detailing the study, a sugar molecule, called Neu5Gc, becomes part of your own cells when it’s consumed. Your body then attacks it, resulting in inflammation and a higher cancer risk. Medscape reveals previous studies also show an increase in breast cancer among women who consumed more red meat. You don’t need to cut out red meat entirely. In fact, CNCA Health says just opt for grass fed organic beef, which contains conjugated linoleic acis that can actually fight against certain cancers. Also, keep red meat consumption to a minimum to further decrease your risk. 6. Farmed Salmon If you are avoiding processed meats and red meat, you might find yourself eating more salmon. Well, avoid the farmed version of this fish because a study at the University at Albany found it is often full of cancer causing contaminants such as pesticides, antibiotics, PCBs, and even flame retardants, making it, in our opinion, one of the cancer causing foods. Opt for the wild version instead to get the benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids that salmon provides, without contaminants. 7. Refined Sugar/Soda Refined sugar is a danger because not only is it typically GMO because it’s genetically modified sugar beets, but it rapidly spikes insulin levels. CNCA health warns this in turn, feeds cancer cells. Fructose, the type of sugar found in soda, is a serious cancer culprit as well. It contains caramel color, a known carcinogen. Soda acidifies the body, which in turn causes cancer cells to multiply. Skip the sodas altogether limited your intake of refined sugars.

In this video I wanted to talk about foods I try to keep out of my diet. I want to stress the word, "moderation" to you guys, though. As long as you are consistent with your healthy lifestyle, it is okay to eat whatever you want from time to time. When you abuse the privileges of eating foods in moderation, it could complicate your everyday lifestyle without you even knowing it. I am not telling you to banish these foods out of your diet completely, but because they don't provide any health benefits, it makes sense to scale back. 3 words for you guys: Mind. Over. Matter. 1. PROCESSED MEATS (FILLED WITH SODIUM + NITRATE/NITRITES) -I usually avoid all casings of mystery meat. -I don't eat red meat, but for those that do, moderation is best. -As for poultry; you know you always grabbed the Ranch dressing at your Grandma's on Thanksgiving to dip that turkey in. Why? Because it's bland and unprocessed. That's how you know it's healthy. That is the type of meat I would probably eat. -The quality of the source is the underlying factor of healthy dieting. 2. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS (I TRULY BELIEVE ALL FOODS CONTAINING ARTIFICIAL SUBSTITUTES TO SUGAR CANE AREN'T GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH) -Refined sugars too. -Coconut Sugars, Blackstrap Molasses, Manuka Honey are replacements for those that need sweeteners daily, but all sugar in moderation is best. 3. WHITE FLOURED GRAINS (ANY WHITE BREADS, RICES, PASTAS -Poses no health benefits when you compare it to whole grain sources of flour. -If you are trying to lose weight, a diet with white floured foods can hamper the process. -Some white floured foods have a high sugar content. 4. CANDY (GMO'S OUT THE ASS. PICK AND CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES WISELY) -Nothing else really to say here, candy is bad. We all know it. But we still eat it, because we love refined sugar. This was the hardest thing for me to cut out of my diet but from time to time should be okay for someone who lives an active lifestyle. 5. FRIED FOOD (FRYING FOOD IN CERTAIN OILS AT HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN COMPROMISE THE FOOD AND POTENTIALLY KILL OFF ALL THE NUTRIENTS THAT FOOD CAN OFFER) -Frying food in certain oils at high temperatures compromises the food and all benefits the food can offer. -Asparagine is an amino acid that is found in many vegetables, with higher concentrations in some varieties of potatoes. -When frying, oils skyrocket to high temperatures that are unhealthy. When this happens in the presence of certain sugars, asparagine (an amino acid which is a building block of protein) can form acrylamide. -Regardless of what method you use to cook your food, make sure you don't OVERHEAT or OVERCOOK your food to the point where you kill off all nutrients and compromise the benefits. Stop Eating Them to Avoid Cancer! We have come to know, through medical research and ancestral wisdom, that there are foods that contain certain nutrients that prevent and / or kill cancer cells in the body. But are there foods that cause cancer to develop and grow? You gamble. Below are cancer-causing foods that avoid cancer; They can not directly cause cancer, but they do contribute to the condition. Refined sugar Cancer cells eat sugar to meet their extreme energy needs. The less processed sugars and sweeteners you eat, the lower the risk of developing cancer. Refined sugar (white) has no nutritional value, its only value lies in its taste. Stolen from its nutritional components during processing, all that is left at the end of the process is really just cancer in a bag. That's not to say that you should cut out all the carbohydrates in your diet - every cell in your body uses glucose (the most fundamental form of sugar) for energy. Your metabolism works every minute of every day to break down the foods you eat into glucose, lipids and proteins to nourish your body. The critical difference between carbohydrates and simple sugar is the complexity and availability of glucose. Refined sugars already break down and are easily absorbed into the bloodstream, causing an increase in insulin production and an increase in blood sugar. Chronic overuse of refined sugar can overload the pancreas, leading to diabetes. Genetically modified organisms Transgenic foods have been the subject of controversy since 1982, when the Food and Drug Administration approved the first GMO for human consumption: humulin, a synthetic insulin. There is a great deal of research on the safety of GMOs in food; But depending on who funded the study, the findings differ. With the extreme power of GMO companies, many researchers are trying to find out the truth about the long-term health and environmental consequences of transgenic foods. Independent studies found direct links between GMOs and the development of numerous conditions, including autism, liver and kidney disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Popcorn Microwave foods can be easy, quick and convenient, but they are also toxic. The coatings on the bags on which microwave popcorn is sold contain harmful chemicals. Manufacturers soak the popcorn kernels to leave more effectively in a solution that includes a chemical also found in the lighter liquid. The flavoring of butter contains diacetyl, an agent that has been found to cause a condition known as "popcorn lung". Organic popcorn is a healthy treat: cook it in the coconut oil stove and sprinkle with nutritional yeast for a cheesy, nutritious and satisfying snack. Processed potatoes The problem with these amazing snacks is three times: 1. When cooked in oil at high temperatures, the acrylamide compound will develop in most carbohydrates. This is a natural process and in normal amounts, ie what happens if a whole potato is baked in the oven, for example, acrylamide is metabolized effortlessly by the body. 2. In mass production, however, the amount of this chemical increases exponentially, containing up to 910 times the legal limit in a bag of chips. Regular ingestion of acrylamide and similar cooking by-products has been associated with cancer risk. 3. Many brands of French fries contain artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, all of which have health implications. They are also loaded with fat and empty calories. Why can not you just eat one? "The Dorito Effect". The aromas used in chips and other snacks are intentionally misleading and addictive. Processed meat Meat products like hotdogs, sausages and deli meats are loaded with chemicals to extend shelf life. Since they contain cancer-causing nitrates, infant consumption of these foods is related to leukemia, brain cancer and pancreatic cancer. And it's not just lunch meat that can affect your health: A study published in the BMC Medicine found that a high intake of red meat was associated with increased all-cause mortality, including death from cancer. Energy Drinks Although there is no scientific link between energy drinks and cancer, doctors advise against consuming too much caffeine and sugar, both of which are main ingredients in energy drinks. Research finds that adults should have only one serving per day. Due to recent evidence linking daily energy drink intake to heart abnormalities and seizures, regular consumption of energy drinks is not recommended.

The Best Cooking Methods for Cancer Prevention. Did you realize that some cooking strategies can lessen your danger of getting disease? Many examinations have demonstrated that our nourishment affects our wellbeing, including lessening the danger of genuine maladies like tumor. You presumably realize that it is smarter to eat entire grains instead of refined grains, and that you should join a lot of crisp vegetables in your eating routine. In any case, did you realize that what's essential isn't just what you eat, yet in addition how you cook your sustenance? For instance minced or slashed garlic is preferable for malignancy avoidance over an entire clove of garlic, and it's best to absorb potatoes water before placing them in the stove. So here are a portion of the best cooking strategies for disease counteractive action:. Read additionally: 6 Cancer Causers at Home You Should Get Rid Of: Broccoli:. I wrote in the past about the counter malignancy properties of cruciferous vegetables, and to be sure broccoli is an incredible wellspring of sulforaphane, a segment which research facility ponders have found has noteworthy against disease capacities. The catalyst myrosinase, which is found in broccoli, is basic to the arrangement of sulforaphane. In the event that you decimate this protein while over-cooking broccoli, you likewise harm the counter malignancy properties of this vegetable. An examination introduced in November 2013 at the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) thought about between standard cooking, microwave cooking and steaming of broccoli and found that steaming the vegetable for up to five minutes is the most ideal approach to protect the protein myrosinase. Cooking and warming in the microwave for a moment or less devastated the vast majority of the compounds. An investigation distributed two years sooner in the diary "Nourishment and Cancer" found that eating broccoli grows that contain a lot of the compound myrosinase with broccoli expanded the arrangement of sulforaphane. Tomatoes:. Tomatoes contain a capable cell reinforcement called lycopene which is related with lessening the danger of different sorts of growth. As per the American Institute for Cancer Research, it is prescribed to cook tomatoes for a couple of minutes, accordingly cooking discharges the lycopene that is preferred assimilated over lycopene found in tomatoes that haven't been cooked. Including a tad of olive oil to cooked tomatoes will additionally build the measure of lycopene consumed in the body. Garlic:. In the event that you pulverize or hack garlic and afterward hold up 10-15 minutes before presenting it to warm, a phytochemical called allicin is framed which battles numerous ailments. Allicin is made in a concoction response between a segment called alliin and the catalyst alliinase. At the point when the garlic is entire, the alliin and the alliinase are isolated, yet while hacking or mincing the garlic it influences them to combine and make allicin. So before uncovering the slashed garlic to warm, it's best to hold up in light of the fact that warmth crushes the protein alliinase, so let the compound carry out its activity for some time before cooking the garlic. Potatoes :. Potatoes are one of the nourishments that make a concoction called acrylamide in certain cooking strategies. Studies have discovered that elevated amounts of acrylamide may expand the danger of tumor in creatures, and numerous specialists trust that it is likely this is likewise the case in people. As a rule, the odds of acrylamide development increment when the nourishment is set up for longer periods in high temperatures, for example, searing, barbecuing or heating. Suggestions distributed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in November 2013, don't prescribe to store potatoes in the fridge since this may build the arrangement of acrylamide while preparing or searing. It is prescribed to store potatoes in a cool dim place, for example, an organizer or wash room. Furthermore, it is prescribed to drench the potato pieces in water for 15-30 minutes before singing or preparing them to diminish the measure of chemicals that will be made all the while. Bread:. Similarly as with potatoes, over-warming bread shapes acrylamide. Along these lines the FDA prescribes to set up the toast until the point that it is a light darker shading and not dim darker. On the off chance that there are extremely dim zones, abstain from eating them. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

https://www.arthritistreatmentcenter.com Have you ever wondered about those studies showing different things cause cancer… well here’s another one Add French Fries, Potato Chips to the List of Cancer-Causing Foods Caitlyn Fitzpatrick writing for MD reported the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a guidance for the food industry on ways to reduce a potential carcinogen in French fries. Starchy foods, such as bagels, were recently targeted for being linked to lung cancer. Now officials are flagging foods like French fries and potato chips for containing acrylamide, a dangerous chemical that may cause cancer. Frozen French fries that are intended to be cooked in a consumer’s home are not naturally filled with the chemical. Fries with a larger surface area relative to the volume may reduce acrylamide since is tends to form in the surface layer instead of inside. When it comes to potato chips, higher temperatures and longer cooking time result in higher acrylamide levels. The chemical especially increases towards the end of frying. Comment: what a bummer… I love fries. https://youtu.be/hcZiH21rscA
